Integrity

A credential is only worth something if whoever checks it can trust how it was earned. This page brings together the certification exam rules, what the platform observes, what happens when something looks wrong and how an employer checks a credential.

The certification exam rules

The certification exam is individual and closed-book, which includes AI assistants. It is taken online, in the browser, with no scheduling.

There is no camera, microphone or screen recording. PMCert chose not to watch the person and instead to protect the exam and observe objective signals.

What the platform observes

During the certification exam, the platform records:

  • the total time and the time per question;
  • when the exam window loses focus;
  • attempts to copy or paste, which are blocked;
  • several exams opened from the same address or the same device within 24 hours.

A signal leads to review, not to failure

No signal fails anyone on its own and none changes the score. A certification exam with signals is reviewed by a person, who looks at the whole picture before any decision.

When there is proven fraud, disclosure of questions, false identity, misleading use of the credential or administrative error, the credential can be revoked. Revocation is an administrative act with a recorded reason, and the code remains searchable in the verifier, showing that it was revoked.

Protecting the questions

Each certification exam is drawn from a larger bank, in a different combination at every opening, so anyone memorising questions from earlier candidates meets only some of them. The statistics of each question show when everyone starts getting it right, which is the sign of a leak, and the question leaves the draw by a person’s decision.

How an employer checks a credential

  1. Ask the candidate for the credential code, which is on the certificate and on their public profile.
  2. Enter the code in the PMCert public verifier. No account and no contact with PMCert are needed.
  3. Check the holder’s name, the certification, the issue date and the status. A revoked credential shows as revoked.
  4. Certificates issued before the current platform carry the old code, and the verifier accepts both.

Questions about integrity and verification

What rules apply during the certification exam?

The certification exam is individual and closed book. Do not use help from another person and do not sit an exam in anyone else’s place; do not consult material, websites, apps or artificial intelligence assistants; do not copy, photograph or publish the questions, during or after; and do not use automation to circumvent how the exam works. The full rules are on the privacy and terms page.

Can I use artificial intelligence during the certification exam?

No. Consulting an artificial intelligence assistant during the certification exam is prohibited conduct, like any other consultation. It is worth saying plainly why the rule matters even without camera surveillance: a credential obtained that way is verifiable by any employer, permanent and issued in your name, and it is your reputation hanging on it. Proven fraud leads to revocation of the credential, with no refund.

How do you ensure certification exam integrity?

We use no camera, no microphone and no screen recording: there is no proctoring, and we would rather say so than imply surveillance that does not exist. What we record during the certification exam are signals such as time per question, loss of window focus and paste attempts, which produce flags for human review. None of those signals fails anyone automatically, because a dropped connection and a system notification are not fraud.

How does a company check that my certification is genuine?

Through the credential code, at pmcert.org/verify. Whoever enters the code sees the holder name, which certification was earned, the date of issue and whether the credential is active or revoked. No account, no permission from you and no contact with you is needed. The PDF certificate also carries a QR code that opens that same page.

What if whoever is checking does not have the code?

The same verification page has a public directory of certified professionals, searchable by name, email and certification. The email search checks an exact address and never returns anyone’s address in the response. Only profiles set to public appear in the directory.

Can a credential be revoked?

It can, and the grounds are written on the privacy and terms page: certification exam fraud, publishing the questions, false identity, misleading use of the credential, and administrative error on our side. A revoked credential does not vanish: the code stays checkable and starts answering that it was revoked, because vanishing would make the code look forged to anyone who had verified it before. Administrative error is reversible.
