Certified Customer Experience Specialist

Everything that applies to the CCXS certification exam: what it covers, how the exam works, how it is scored and where to study.

Blueprint version 1, published on August 25, 2026. Study guide, edition 2026.1.

What the certification attests

For those who answer for customer experience end to end: journey and touchpoints, perception metrics, use of data and a customer-centred culture.

  • You answer for the experience

Customer experience, service, service operations or quality. You have to decide which touchpoint to fix first and prove that the fix worked. This is where indicators collected and never used do the most damage.

  • You operate a touchpoint

Digital channel, store, contact centre, logistics or after-sales. Your area is one stretch of the journey, and you need to understand how it affects the perception of the whole and what the brand expects of you there.

  • You sponsor the change

You approve the experience budget, set indicator targets and answer for the culture. You need to know what to ask before approving an initiative, and what separates a real improvement from a number that went up.

Prerequisite

None. You can take the certification exam directly.

Domains and weights

Questions are drawn for every certification exam, always in this proportion. The weights are the same the exam engine uses.

DomainQuestionsWeightWhere to study

1. Fundamentals of customer experience

What the experience is: the internal and subjective response of whoever interacts with the brand, and not what the brand executes. The memory that response leaves and that conditions the next interaction, and the distinction between experience, service, relationship and satisfaction.

612%Guide CCXS, chapter 4, Foundations of customer experience

2. The customer journey

The complete path, not the internal flow: the three stages, the behaviour expected at each one and the moments that set the memory of the whole. A journey drawn from the inside out reproduces the org chart and erases the stretches where perception forms without the company.

816%Guide CCXS, chapter 5, The customer journey

3. Touchpoints

The concrete encounter between brand and customer: when to design, adapt, monitor and prioritise. Classifying the touchpoint by its owner, including the partner one and what happens beyond the reach of the brand, and choosing which to fix when the budget does not cover all.

816%Guide CCXS, chapter 6, Touchpoints

4. Metrics and indicators

Choosing the indicator by the question to answer, and recognising what is not an experience indicator. What measures one service episode does not measure the relationship, and volume of traffic does not measure perception. Balancing a set instead of maximising one number.

714%Guide CCXS, chapter 7, Metrics and indicators

5. Data, information and capabilities

Capturing, interpreting and disseminating information about the journey: the three verbs together, because capturing alone produces an archive and interpreting without disseminating produces a report nobody reads. What granularity to keep in order to reconstruct the path of whoever had trouble.

714%Guide CCXS, chapter 8, Data, information and capability

6. A customer-centred culture

The layer that holds up the rest: the transition starts with the leadership and not with the front line, and the culture is read in what the organisation measures and rewards, not in what it declares. Recognising when the experience demands a capability the house does not have.

714%Guide CCXS, chapter 9, Customer-centred culture

7. The strategic people cycle

Whoever delivers the experience: attracting, developing, compensating, retaining and appraising those who operate the touchpoints. Retention as a consequence of the earlier steps, and the one-to-one meeting as an instrument of daily operation.

Certification exam rules

Format
Online certification exam, in your browser, with no scheduling and no exam centre. Questions describe work situations and ask for a decision. Some ask for more than one option, and the screen tells you how many.
Time
The clock runs on the server and starts when you open the certification exam. It does not pause: reloading the page, switching devices or closing the browser does not give time back. When time runs out, the exam is submitted with what you have answered.
Navigation
You can go back, change answers and flag questions for review. Before you finish, a screen shows what is answered, flagged and blank.
Scoring
Your score is compared with the pass mark, with no curve. A blank question counts as wrong, and multiple-answer questions get no partial credit.
Result
Immediate, with your score for each domain. It is kept in your account and does not appear on the certificate or the public profile.
Voucher
Each voucher is worth one attempt and is used when the certification exam is opened. A voucher bought on the site never expires. Whoever types the code takes the exam, so treat the code like a ticket.
New attempt
There is no waiting period and no limit. Each attempt uses a voucher, and questions are drawn again. If you do not pass, you get a 50% coupon for the same certification, valid for 90 days.
Refund
Within 14 days of purchase, if the voucher has not been used, through the same payment method.
Technical problem
Come back through the same address: the certification exam resumes with the same questions and the answers already saved. If a platform failure compromises your exam, a new attempt is released at no cost.
Credential
Issued when you pass, with a public verification code. It never expires and has no renewal or annual fee.
Revocation
A credential can be revoked for fraud, disclosure of questions, false identity, misleading use or administrative error. The code remains searchable and shows the revocation.
Integrity
The certification exam is individual and closed book, including artificial intelligence assistants. There is no camera, microphone or screen recording. Signals such as time per question and loss of window focus lead to human review, and no signal fails anyone on its own.
Accessibility
The certification exam screen works with keyboard and screen reader. Extended time of 25% or 50% is requested at checkout or in the account, in Certification exams, before using the voucher. For another adjustment, write to [email protected].
