One question in the style of the certification exam to test your reasoning, and what changed at PMCert over the past month.
The question of the month
A board in use for eight months shows three stages, while the team describes seven distinct steps when explaining how the work happens. What does that difference indicate?
- AIt indicates maturity, because a simple board is easier to keep and reduces the time the team spends updating cards.
- BIt indicates that the team should reduce the real process to the three steps represented, treating the remaining four as waste to eliminate.
- CIt indicates that the board should be replaced by a tool with greater capacity for detailing the stages of work.
- DThe board has stopped representing the operation, and the decisions taken from it ignore four steps where the work can stop.Correct option
The explained answer
The board exists to make what happens visible, and what it does not show enters no decision at all. The difference between three columns and seven steps means four points of accumulation are out of the field of view. Simplifying the design is legitimate; simplifying by omitting what exists is not.
